AAU ATHLETICS
NEW QUALIFICATION PROCEDURE FOR THE AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES

Program Goals and Objectives
•  Standardize the registration and advancement process
•  Increase “Grassroots” participation in AAU Track & Field
•  Expand District Qualifying Meets and AAU Memberships

2009 RULE CHANGE:
All Intermediate Boys/Girls and Young Men/Women are required to utilize starting blocks in the 100m/200m/400m/100, 110 & 400 hurdle races. This rule will be strictly enforced on both the District and National levels.

District Level  
•  District Sports Chair will promote “multiple” AAU Sanctioned District Qualifying Meets within District
•  District Level is advancement level.
•  Athletes must compete in and receive a verified mark in an AAU Sanctioned District Qualifier Meet to be eligible to compete in a National Qualifier Meet.
•  Athletes may compete in “multiple” District Qualifier Meets within their District.
•  Regardless of the number of District Qualifiers an athlete competes/advances in, he/she MAY NOT exceed the allowable number of events for their age group at the National Qualifier.
•  All AAU Sanctioned District Qualifier Meets will use the AAU designated online registration system. Coach O has been designated as the 2009 on-line entry system.

National Qualifier Level  
National Qualifier Meets:
•  Hosts will be awarded through a bid process and selected by the AAU Athletics Executive Committee
•  Bid Deadline – January 15, 2009. Bids are to be submit ted to the AAU National Office as mandated in the bid document. Bid submissions must be complete or the document will not be considered.
•  Eligible athletes may only compete in ONE National Qualifier Meet.
•  Athletes who did not compete in a District Qualifying Meet will only be eligible to compete in the Pole Vault, Steeplechase. Relay teams must be declared on the National Qualifier level.
•  Top (4) four athletes and relay teams at each National Qualifier Meet will advance to the AAU National Junior Olympic Games.
•  At the National Qualifier and District Qualifier, it is mandated that AAU medals will be awarded to the top (4) athletes in each event, including all competing members of relay teams.
•  Use of the designated online entry/registration system is mandatory. CoachO has been designated as the 2009 on-line entry/registration system.
•  All events will be contested that will be contested at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
•  All facilities/venues must meet the facility requirements as set by the AAU Athletics Executive Committee and outlined in the bid document.

Use of a FAT timing system and the Hy-Tek program provided by the AAU Junior Olympics Hy-Tek Team is mandatory.
